Song Review: Saturate Us

Saturate Us sung by Bishop Andrew Merriitt and The Straight Gate Mass Choir (2015) is a beautiful song of praise to God. It’s a song of plea, asking God to shower the world with his love, mercy, and power. In these days and times we need God to replenish his people with strength and faith to get through these troublesome times. So much is going on and it’s important for everyone to remember to give Jesus all of our praise and thanks.

I’m Thankful

A lot happened in 2016. I know this is March, three months into 2017, but as I was sitting on the bus my mind fell deep into thought. God has blessed me so much. Sometimes for us to really see those blessings we need that idle moment of silence. After countless days of watching horrific acts committed throughout our country and our world, waking up early in the morning to go to work, and preparing ourselves mind, body, and soul for whatever is to come in the rest of the week, we need to rest. Rest for as long as you see fit,  but rest and recap on the positive things that has happened in your life. Once you do so, you will realize that they outweigh the negative.

Yes, I have a lot to be thankful for and I know you do too. Just for waking up in the morning and brushing your teeth are two glorious things we sometimes take advantage of. On the news a few weeks ago, I listened with tears in my eyes of a family of eleven who woke up the next day with half of their family gone from a vicious fire. I didn’t know what to do with myself after hearing such tragedy. But I did pray. I prayed for the family and sought Jesus’ mercy and comfort upon them in their grief. I prayed for myself and my family and sought Jesus again for mercy, comfort, and thanked him for it all.

Never take your life or world for granted. All of it is a blessing. You are blessing.

The world feels like it’s collapsing around us every day. From politics to our crumbling neighborhoods, we must keep the world balanced by trusting, praying, thanking, and remembering Jesus Christ. So be thankful this day. I know I am thankful.

I pray you have a blessed day.

-Sincerely LeQuita.

In the UB Spotlight with The Rimsky-Korsakov String Quartet

On the evening of November 1, 2016, I had the opportunity to attend a musical event on the University of Baltimore Campus. Around 7:00 pm, the Wright Theater located in the Student Center was alive with the beautiful sound of music performed by the Rimsky-Korsakov String Quartet. Four graduates from the prestigious St. Petersburg Conservatory, entertained the audience with Russian music of the 19th and early 20th centuries to contemporary composers orchestrated with the usage of stringed instruments such as the violin, the viola, and the cello.

Released on June 24, 2016, The Shallow was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and is a drama slash thriller that both pleases the eyes and tenses your muscles. The film forces you to put yourself in the main character’s shoes and asks you constantly what would you do if a great white shark trapped you on a rock determined to have you for dinner? What would you do? With only two major characters played by Blake Lively and a great white shark and a few minor characters, we dive into the scary unknown.

Language Cannot Be Limited: Responding to Ludwig Wittgenstein

Language Cannot be Limited: Responding to Ludwig Wittgenstein

“The limits of my language are the limits of my world.” Ludwig Wittgenstein

Ludwig Wittgenstein, an Austrian-British philosopher, said “The limits of my language are the limits of my world,” which identifies how language contributes to human’s abilities to socialize. Without language or limiting language can be crucial to a human’s will to imagine, to learn, and to comprehend. In my Archaeology of Language Course, we discussed how babies and toddlers form and adapt to a spoken language by ways of listening and repeating sounds. If a mom repeats the word “ma-ma” to her toddler, she would eventually repeat the sound and interpret it to be a good thing. This awakening of sounds with words, which has its own study called Phonology, gives wake to imagination.

To God be the Glory

As He woke me up this morning to start me on way, new mercies I see
I had no doubt that the Lord will take care of me, provide for me, and lead me all the way
For I know it is a blessed assurance to know that Jesus is mines
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed,
We are perplexed, but not in despair,
Persecuted, but not forsaken, cast down but not destroyed,
For Jesus is the strength of my life.
For what will I gain for all the world’s riches?
So yes, I would love to have Jesus and Jesus alone.
For He holds the power of the world in His hands
For it is all in the blood of the lamb
He came to save a wretch like me,
That I may live eternally.
So yes, I have decided to make Jesus my choice.
What a mighty God we serve, angels bow down before Him
Heaven and Earth adore Him.
Praise Him! Praise Him! Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, God, Almighty,
Alpha, Omega, the beginning and the end.
He is Lord! He is Lord!
Our God is an awesome God
He reigns from Heaven above
The Lord is my Shepard I shall not want
He’s sweet I know and my everlasting portion.
Have you tried Jesus? Have you tried Jesus?
He’s alright for He’s a good God, yes he is.
For there’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus
For Jesus loves me this I know for the bible tells me so
So yes, I said I wasn’t going to tell nobody, but I couldn’t keep it to myself.
I love you, I love you, I love you Lord today, for you care for me in such a special way.
To God be the Glory for the Great things He has done.

Me and My Lord

Me and my Lord forever it shall be
Living in a mansion and living eternally
Walking with my Lord under his magnificent light

All eyes shall see his blessed face
When he descends on that precious day
Who shall be worthy to stand before his grace?

When I hear the name of Jesus
I can’t help but sing and praise
For he has done so many things for me
In so many ways

In times of need he is my shield
My protector, my knight in shining armor
Just call on him and you shall see
His greatness and his honor

Our God is an awesome God
He created you and me
He sent his only precious son
To die for us on Calvary

When people have forsaken me
And there are mountains in my way
I know who I can call on,
I know not to be afraid.

Don’t you be afraid to seek my Lord
He said, seek and ye shall find
Knock and it shall be opened
What more can I say?

Me and my Lord forever it shall be
Walking down his righteous path
My feet shall not be moved
I have placed my trust in Jesus Christ
Because he’s the way, the truth, and the life

Jesus Has Kept Us

Jesus has kept us all this way

And now today we can make a noise and say

Oh we thank God for these kind of days

The struggle has not been all so hard

For walking with Christ has made us strong

We know that there is so much around us that should not be

But beside it all, we know that Jesus paid it all on Calvary

So, so what do we say?

Thank God for his blood that cleanses me

And because of this I am free

We will rejoice and not have remorse

Because praising God is our only choice

So let us praise, so let us shout, so let us magnify his Holy Name.

Let us embrace this anniversary

And the love and enjoyment that it brings

The gratefulness for God’s merciful protection

That keeps us all in an embracing connection

May God lead us and guide us

Although, life seems like a race

We will make sure we control our faith

There’s nothing better then to have God on our side

To keep the Path of Righteousness before our eyes

We thank God for our 5th Anniversary of

The Path of Righteousness Church in Christ

Occasion: 5th Anniversary, 2/15/09

I Heard About this Path

I heard about this path

That wasn’t like other pathways.

There are curves and bends

But with no dangers or dead ends.

This path had one way only

And said you will never be lonely

It promised you an everlasting comfort

That nobody has the power to offer

Down this path, the trees grow strong

The wind blows through with a holy song

The flowers bloom and the green grass grow

There is no other way I wish to go

This way gives strength

To those who are weak.

Encouragement to those

Who knock and seek.

With plenty of love

And mercy to bear

A powerful protection

With no hardships or cares

This path is the way to Jesus Christ

Towards the promise of eternal life

A heavenly place waits ahead

Toiling on I shall tread.

Where praises go up

And your blessings come down

There’s no better place

That I have found

This path is the Way,

The Truth, and the Light

To Jesus Christ, I gave my life.

Girded with the whole armor of God

I’m filled with songs of happiness

No other path I will not go

Instead this Path of Righteousness
